What is the Catholic Girls League (CGL)?
The Catholic Girls League (CGL) at St. Edward’s Church is a vibrant and supportive group designed to empower young girls within the church community. It focuses on enhancing their spiritual growth while also developing essential leadership skills. Through various activities and group exercises, the CGL fosters a sense of friendship, trust, and community among its members.
The league provides a safe and nurturing environment where the girls can participate in prayer, reflection, and activities that promote kindness, respect, and strong values. Guided by mentors, these activities encourage the girls to become confident, compassionate, and law-abiding individuals, equipped to make a positive impact on the world around them. Ultimately, the CGL aims to shape young girls into capable leaders and empathetic citizens.

The CGL program at St. Edwards is currently underway, with our dedicated mentors providing the essential support, guidance and knowledge to ensure the very best resources are available for all our members. Through a combination of group activities, games, and group projects, we strive to instill confidence, the need to help and support the group, and a deep respect for one and all. The group activities foster personal growth and the program instills critical leadership skills. The motto of the CGL is FAITH, FRIENDSHIP, FUN and FORMATION. Keeping this in mind our mentors carefully select the activities for our young girls, to make this a meaningful experience for one and all.
“Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
when there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
Grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand,
to be loved as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying [to ourselves] that we are born to eternal life.”
